A CYCLE and footpath on one of Southend’s busiest routes will be improved.
Southend Council will begin carrying out improvements to a section of path between St Mary’s Road and Priory Crescent on the east side of Victoria Avenue.
As well as repairing this section, improvements will be made to the layout of the paths around the junction of Victoria Avenue and St Mary’s Road.
Unnecessary lampposts and signs will be taken away and the junction will be simplified.
Work will start on Monday, February 4 and should last six weeks.
One southbound lane on Victoria Avenue will be closed on some days between 9.30am and 3.30pm.
It will also be necessary to prevent cars driving into St.Marys Road when that part of the works is being carried out.
The council has apologised in advance for any inconvenience caused by the works, but said it hopes residents understand that the improvements are necessary.
