Wow thanks for the detailed report Echo, see you have left no stone unturned as ever.

On the plus side its only taken you 24 hours to report.

and it probably took all of those 24 hours to produce such a detailed news report

I'm sure if this article was about an elderly person whining about loud teenagers, you'd have far more detail and maybe a nice photograph of the gormless pensioner scowling at the camera.
But crime? Nah, not important. We don't want to upset the octogenarians, do we? Talk of stabbings and slashings and crime waves might upset their campaign to keep Southend mired in a 1950's Groundhog Day.

Perhaps this is all the information the echo has been given? What more is there to know without a Police investigation? U guys complain when the Echo feels in the gaps, yet when they print something truthful its not good enough.

I have the Echo delivered and read online and I also get the papers from my friends from Newham and from Barking & Dagenham and crime and incidents in Southend than anywhere else. Southend was great in the 50s but now it has to be one of the highest crime area in the uk. 90% of crime news in the Echo is in Southend. Oh my God what type of people live there now ? Give it 10 years and it will be a no go area.

Nebs - I'm sure it'll be automatic as there is very little crime in the area! I wonder how the Police Super will put the spin on the next wave of crime figures?

How many mores times does it have to be highlighted before Southend Council proactively reacts to the fact that Southchurch is now a crime hotspot.
.
It has been pointed out numerous times this is due to the town centre now being covered by CCTV that criminal fraternity are aware of this and now target Southchurch due to a lack of afforementioned surveillance.
.
Recently we seam to have had report after report of armed robberires, muggings, sexual assaults all concentrated in the areas between Southchurch Road and Woodgrange Drive.
I'm guessing our beloved tory cabinet don't live in this area!
.
Southend Council fails the electorate again.

Statistcally the areas of Canvey and Blenheim have higher crime rates overall. Agree tho that southchurch is on the decline. For the years that I lived in the area it was mostly nice. When I visit friends there now, its certainly changed for the worse in terms of the atmosphere.

It was hardly a stabbing, it happened inside or just outside of the Sutton Arms, two drunks (male & female) The male got glassed in the face by another drunk woman. Then it took a further 20mins of shouting between the 2 drunk women in front of everyone including young children who where waiting for a bus. Someone called the police and that was it. These people should be locked up, they are a waste to society.

Do you think it might be worth a few letters to the purple flag organisation, drawing their attention to all the crime in the area. If we were to be the first to have a purple flag refused, and it was well publicised, maybe the government would give the local police some more money.
