Man cleared of V Festival murder

Sam Martin Sam Martin

A KILLER has been cleared of murdering a man at a party only yards from last year's V music festival.

Sam Martin had been accused of carrying out a "brutal and sustained" attack that left Anton Jardin dead in the garden of a house.

A Chelmsford Crown Court jury found him not guilty on the murder charge. But Martin admitted the manslaughter of Mr Jardin, 39, of Eastwood Road, Rayleigh, and is due to be sentenced on that charge tomorrow.

He said he had only hit his victim with a single punch, and there had been no kicking or stamping.

Martin, 26, of Eastwood Road, Leigh, nodded his head and there was gasps from the public gallery as the verdict was announced.

Mr Jardin’s family said they were “disappointed” with the verdict.

Can you really legally call him 'a killer' if he's been cleared?

'But Martin admitted the manslaughter of Mr Jardin'

In the above circumstances, yes.

Manslaughter = The unlawful KILLING of a human being without malice or premeditation

He was very lucky to get off the murder charge, it could have easily gone the other way with a different jury.

If not a killer then a "man slaughterer"
which is worse?

A murder is premeditated.

Was that sarcasm, or are you a friend of the scumbag? As you seem to be highly informed of the incident, would you be so kind as to share with everyone why you think it is the correct decision, or are you one of those regular Echo reading busy bodies who comments on every story without having any more information other than a badly reported and written article!
