RESIDENTS across the borough look set to benefit from a freeze on their council tax for the second year in a row.

On Thursday night councilors sitting on Basildon Council’s cabinet agreed plans to freeze the tax this year.

The plans will now go to full council next Thursday where councillors will vote on whether to push the proposals through.

Last year the council also voted to freeze the tax and, in 2011, councillors agreed to it by 0.25 per cent.

The latest move means residents will be paying less council tax than they were three years ago.
