Historic pubs reopens Historic pubs reopens

AN HISTORIC pub feared to have closed for good will reopen today.

The Barge Inn in High Road, Vange, shut mysteriously after a New Year’s Eve party and hasn’t been open since.

Previous landlords Emma and Clive Langley signed up to a 30-year lease back in 2007, but it is unclear why they decided to close the pub which first opened its doors 200 years ago.

Enterprise Inns, which owns the pub, has confirmed new landlords have been appointed. No further details have been released.

An a-board was put outside the pub in High Road on Tuesday announcing it would open Wednesday lunchtime and would hold a karaoke contest on Saturday night.

Spent many a pleasant hour in the 1950's sniffing the bar-maids apron.

Should be 'A historic' - not 'An historic'.

It’s just the consequence of bad education and speech. An "h" in an unstressed syllable is either not pronounced or barely pronounced, except when it follows a vowel sound or a pause. This is an adjustment that is made unconsciously; people often don't notice that they're not pronouncing the "h” As a result, the ‘an’ has now become common practice in the written word.

I did attend the Opening Night, Cant say I was impressed.with the price of a pint or the quality and I dont think the heating was on. Broken glass and boarded windows in the outside smoking area from an attempted break in I presume. Hope this isnt a sign of things to come or its days will be numbered..
