Man glassed in casino fight

A MAN was glassed in the face during a fight at a casino, police said this afternoon.

The punch-up happened at the Genting Club, in Western Esplanade, when the victim was attacked with a glass.

The 19 year old man from Corringham needed a number of stitches at to his cheek and bridge of his nose.

It happened at about 2.30am on Friday in the bar area.

The suspect is described as a white, 20-30s, with short dark hair, 5ft 8ins tall, slim build, wearing a grey hoody and jeans.

He also had an injury to his right hand, likely to be from the broken glass.

Anyone with any information contact Det Con Luke Dangerfield at Southend CID on 101.

Hoody and jeans at a casino? How very James Bond - NOT!!!!!

Stop treating these things as anything other than the third rate chav drinking dives and off high street bookies they've become.

What an advert for the "more sophisticated" Side of Southend!!!!!

Maybe if the casino had a proper black tie dress code they would get a better behaved clientele.

The amount of cctv in a casino is unreal. Surely there should be a picture of the suspect then?

Have to say casinos used to be quite exclusive but i notice the chavs downstairs from me visit them now and they can barely string two sentences together

Spot on. They used to have a dress code, and the punters were sober and civilised. Only time to go now is about 1am when all the Brits leave and the Chinese, who respect the old values, arrive.

I don't see what the hoody issue is all about, I've got a couple of casual tops with hoods on and a leather jacket with a hood on too, does that make me a chav or an undersireable? Maybe just someone with an unimaginative wardrobe!! I'm 42 and wear a suit to work, I like to dress down when I'm relaxing.
I would be gutted though if i got turned away from a good night down the casino because I was wearing a hooded topi!!
I've been going to that casino for years and when you consider the volume of people that go through the doors, especially at the weekend the amount of trouble you get down there it is minimal. especially compared to a night out in the town centre.
I do however think it is disgusting that a human being could purpousley thrust a glass into another mans face, theres some horrible people out there where ever you go. (I use the words human being in the loosest sense of the word)

A hoody is a type of clothing, not a type of person. You all need to get yourselves into the 21st century !
I totally agree with Jimmy, I have been going to the casino on a Friday night for the past 12 years and I have never witnessed ANY trouble of ANY kind before, it has to be one of safest places to drink in Essex.
You can not legislate for animals like this, it could have happened anywhere.

Casinos in southend were much better when they had a dress code. Now it seems anything goes.

It used to be the case that if you wasnt a member, you signed up and had to wait 24 hours before you could get in. Now, you can pretty much walk in and do as you like.

Bring back the old days :-)

unfortunately there is no dress code in any casino nowadays. we have written to the owners who state that they cannot refuse entry because the punters gamble, & making money is always the bottom line!!! It's still very wrong, & disgusting that a fight can erupt like this. this person must be scum!! hope he gets found soon & put away for life!!!

Dont get trouble like that down the Rendezvous!! Must be a better class of customer? I do agree tho that just because someone wears a hoody does not make them a bad person!!
