Woodham Ley Primary School enjoyed their dress-up day
FROM Shakespeare to Where’s Wally, youngsters took inspiration from their favourite books to transform themselves into some of the world’s most famous fictional characters.
As part of National Book Week, children and staff at Benfleet’s Woodham Ley Primary School swapped their school uniforms and suits to dress up as their favourite book characters for the day.
Some of the more quirky outfits included a green haired Oompa-Loompa from Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and fan of non-fiction, Sean Lowe, six, dressed himself as a non-fiction book in an all black outfit complete with “index” and “contents” stickers.
Vanessa Thomas, deputy headteacher, said the fun and colourful day kick-started a week of book and reading related activities at the school, in Rushbottom Lane.
She said: “The mood was high, it was a really exciting and fabulous day."
