this happened just round the corner from me. we live in a hostel and there was a lot of trouble here 4 or 5 people trying to kick this boys door in and left about 12:20am. Kept my boys up last night. makes me wonder if they are connected in any way. so scary glad they were caught quickly. cant wait to get out of here and away from this area.

There seems to be increasing problems with criminals living in London coming to the town. I wonder if by any chance this is drug related if so it would be a pleasant change if the courts issued some proper sentences which might act as a deterrent in future.

Why if drug related ?
Surely you would want proper sentences whatever the reason....

I think he means because they normally dont, hence the "it would be a pleasant change" bit

He probably does, but they normally don't issue proper sentences for violence, period, as in the recent travesty of the 'V festival' case. However, if your deeply concerned about drug related violence then you should possibly worry more about alcohol, since the victims are often completely innocent......

another hit from the plastic gangsta crew...southend is now a no fly zone unless you are foreign, have a criminal past or present, or have 10 kids by different dads....maybe there should be some sort of fence errected so they can all be locked in and then slowly kill each other.......

It seems that Southend has the highest amount of crime than anywhere else in the uk. It was a wonderful place in the 50s and 60s but now its worse than downtown new York.

Southend does not have the highest crime rate in the uk. Not even the highest in essex.

as for your comment compared to down town NY - thats just pointless and again not true.

The big shame is: York road has lovely great big houses and back in the day was where you wanted to live. Sadly, its a no go area and those once big houses are now bedsits/drug dens and brothels. Shame that southend is going down hill at such an alarmingly rate and doesnt seem to be getting any better

@rich/Carol "Southend has the highest amount of crime than anywhere else in the uk"

Haha Your're bonkers !! Southend is simply a smallish seaside town at the end of the day, (its also a safe conservative seat, which is an indication that on the whole its a well off / safer area)

The crime problems southend has are on the whole nothing more than typical anti social issues across the UK in 2013.

You cant seriously believe it has a higher crime rate than inner city London/Birmingham/Gl
asgow/Belfast for example ! Have a look at the Manchester Evening News website, you may find the crime section interesting.........
