Man dies after two lorries crash on the A130
12:35pm Tuesday 12th March 2013 in Local News By Gina Marden
A MAN has died following a crash between two lorries on the A130 near Rettendon.
Two lorries collided in a lay-by off the Southend-bound carriageway at about 11.20am today, just before the Wickford junction.
The driver of one of the vehicles was confirmed dead at the scene. The other driver was treated for minor injuries.
An Essex Police spokeswoman said: "Both lanes of the southbound carriageway are remaining open although the inside lane will be closed periodically for the recovery of the vehicles."
Officers from the Essex Police serious collision investigation unit, along with a number of fire crews, are at the scene and are carrying out initial enquiries.

Last year there were 1,901 road deaths in the UK (if I remember rightly 7 of them were on Christmas day)
Compared to an approximation of 300-400 murders a year.
Resources need to be put into road safety. I don't have a solution, but surely someone, somewhere does.
Apart from illnesses ie heart disease, stroke etc... Road Accidents are biggest killer by a mile.
Sad News.
