A13 Slip-road at Stanford-le-Hope set to be reopened
4:54pm Tuesday 19th March 2013 in Local News
A VITAL exit on the A13 is set to be reopened to traffic ahead of schedule.
Drivers travelling towards London will once again be able to leave the busy dual carriageway at Stanford-le-Hope from 2am next Tuesday.
The closure meant motorists were taken on a two-mile diversion, having to continue to the next exit, for Orsett, and then head back down the A13 towards Southend before taking the turnoff for Stanford-le-Hope and The Manorway.
However, the opening of the off-slip means the next phase of works will be started.
From 4am next Tuesdays drivers travelling towards London will be unable to join the A13 from Stanford-le-Hope for six weeks.
Motorists will be directed along the Southend-bound carriageway to the Five Bells roundabout and join the London-bound A13 there.
Murphy Construction Manager, Simon Fay, said: “We’re pleased to announce that we will reopen the London-bound on slip ahead of schedule. We do appreciate the patience and understanding of all road users during the construction of the junction improvements and we will continue to work to minimise the disruption caused to them.”
The works are being undertaken to increase the capacity of the A13/A1014 junction by widening it from the current two lanes to three lanes.
Despite slip road closures, the junction will operate a single lane usage to maintain access to all surrounding areas.
