THOUSANDS of motorcyclists descended on Southend for an annual bikers’ rally today.

A cavalcade of cycles – from Harley Davidsons to scooters – rode into Southend for the 15th annual Southend Shakedown.

The free event brought tonnes of bikers together to enjoy demonstrations, rallies, and stands along Marine Parade for the Shakedown, which is organised by London’s Ace Cafe.

Event organiser Darren Williams said: “It’s a way of giving something back to the motorcycle community as a free event and we’ve got a great number of people down here with all different types of models coming from all over the country.

“Southend is a lovely place to host the event, which is always very relaxed and family orientated.

“This is our fifteenth year here at Southend and it’s always very well supported. We’d like to thank the town for hosting us too.”
