Councillors to rule on Buffery Park revamp cash

3:53pm Friday 5th April 2013

COUNCILLORS are set to rule on an application for cash to pay for a new outdoor gym in Dudley.

The bid, from the Friends and Residents of Buffery Park, for £5,000, will be debated at a meeting of the community forum for the wards of Castle and Priory, St James's and St Thomas's on Tuesday April 16.

The meeting, at Wrens Nest Community Centre, Summer Road, will be open to members of the public who will be able to have their say on neighbourhood matters.

The Buffery Park application is for money from the forum's budget of nearly £22,000 which is earmarked for allocation to community projects.

If granted, the cash would contribute to the friend's group's target of £45,142 to pay for regeneration of the park, including the provision of a 12-piece outdoor gym.

The Gornal, Upper Gornal and Woodsetton community forum will take place at The Baggeridge Welfare Club, 1 The Straits, Lower Gornal, on Wednesday April 17.

The Netherton, Woodside and St Andrews, Quarry Bank and Dudley Wood meeting will also be on April 17 at Savoy Centre, Northfield Road, Netherton.

Councillor David Sparks, leader of Dudley Council, said: “The first community forums were very successful, these are an important way for people to have direct access and backs up our desire to make this authority a community council.”

All three meetings will start at 6.30pm.
