ESSEX had just one case of measles in April.
That brings to three the number of incidences of the illness since January.
New figures released by Anglia and Essex Public Health England Centre show Southend and Thurrock have had no cases this year.
Last year, Essex had seven in total,Thurrock two and Southend recorded none.
A national catch-up programme to increase MMR vaccination uptake in children and teenagers has so far resulted in more than 95 per cent of GP practices across England ordering extra doses of the vaccine.
It follows an outbreak of the illness in south Wales.
Dr Gina Radford, centre director, Public Health England Anglia and Essex, said: “Our ambition is to vaccinate 95 per cent of ten to 16- year-olds in time for the next school year.
“Local public health teams have been working hard to encourage uptake in children and teenagers across Essex.
“The message to parents who think their child may not be fully immunised is to check today and book an appointment with your GP.”
