A 17-YEAR-OLD girl escaped a man who accosted her in Leigh

The girl was walking along Sunningdale Avenue at around 10pm when a man in a dark, large car asked her if she wanted a lift.

She said no but she says the man then got out and came towards her. She shoved him and ran off.

The man then drove off in a dark, old style, possibly four door salon style car.

He is described as an Asian or Indian man, aged in his late 30s to early 40s, 5ft 7in tall, stocky build with a chubby or fat bloated stomach.

He had short dark hair, not styled, a couple of inches in length, was clean shaven with a clean, clear complexion.

He was wearing a long sleeved yellow, orange and brown checked shirt, straight fit style trousers and had a strong Indian accent.

Anyone who can name the man, witnesses to this incident which happened on July 6, or has any information is asked to contact Pc Wayne Callaghan at Southend police station on 101.
