Crowds flock to Rochford ploughing match
6:00am Thursday 10th October 2013 in Local News
CROWDS flocked to the annual Rochford and District Ploughing Match, held at Sutton Hall Farm, in Shopland Road.
The event – an annual talking point – pitted Essex’s finest farmers against each other to see who can plough the neatest and straightest furrow.
While dozens of tractor drivers descended on the event with ploughs in tow, there were plenty of attractions for families to enjoy too.
There was a farmers’ market, miniature steam train, classic cars and farmyard vehicles, as well as attractions for youngsters.
Farmers were judged in a variety of different classes, including vintage, conventional and reversible ploughing.
