Hospital given £14k microscope
6:00am Sunday 20th October 2013 in Local News
TOP of the range teaching equipment has been donated to Southend Hospital by the borough’s former mayor.
Sally Carr opted to support the hospital’s charity during her term of office.
She attended the haematology department with her fundraising colleagues to present the £14,000 gift.
The cutting-edge microscope and camera attachment with projector screen will prove invaluable in demonstrating blood abnormalities to up-and-coming doctors, said consultant Dr Paul Cervi.
Dr Cervi said: “We needed some up-to-date equipment to improve the training for our specialist haematology registrars and junior doctors.
“The equipment this replaces was 30 years old – before digital cameras were available.”
