Echo: MP calls for Iraq inquiry MP calls for Iraq inquiry

SOUTHEND West MP David Amess has called for an independent UN investigation into claims of a massacre of Iranian refugees in Iraq.

Mr Amess made the call at a conference organised by the British Parliamentary Committee for Iran Freedom on Tuesday.

It heard claims Iraqi forces killed 52 Iranian dissidents, including six women, and took seven others hostage at Camp Ashraf, which houses members of the Iranian opposition in Iraq, on September 1.

Surely it is up to the entire Government of a country to call for the UN to investigate international incidents like this, not a "here today, gone tomorrow", nobody of a UK MP, who will jump on any bandwagon to stop himself disappearing into political obscurity.

More concerned with the 100,000 innocent Iraqis killed in the war we were in.

Now that war was illegal, immoral, costly and achieved nothing but made us a target for terrorists as we killed all those people...
