NO FURTHER action is to be taken against a care home in Basildon after a further inspection.
Ghyll Grove nursing home, in Ghyllgrove, Basildon, was warned by the Care Quality Commission that enforcement action could be taken if services did not improve.
Inspectors criticised the home after an unannounced visit in November.
They found a catalogue of failings at Kennet House, one of five buildings based at the Bupa-run home, including drug storage cupboards being left unlocked and medication trolleys left unattended.
However, a follow-up inspection in December, found medicines were stored safely, records were filled out correctly and errors were picked up early.
A spokeswoman for the watchdog said: “People were protected against the risks associated with medicines because the provider had appropriate arrangements in place to manage them.” If improvements were not made Ghyll Grove risked being given a fine or even closed down.
The home still needs to make improvements with staffing levels and its standards of treatment and care, and has sent the watchdog a report setting out how this will be done.
A spokeswoman for the care home said: “All the improvements are being cascaded across the entire home to ensure high standards of care are achieved and maintained.”
