First published in Local News

A MAN has been left with a broken jaw after being attacked in Southend High Street.

Police are treating the incident as grievous bodily harm and are appealing for witnesses to the attack.

The victim, a 23-year-old man from Westcliff, was walking with his girlfriend near the Royals Shopping Centre, heading away from the sea, between 2.45am and 3am on Saturday January 4.

He was set upon by two men who punched him in the face.

Investigating officer, Pc Daniel Barber, said: "This man was viciously attacked in the middle of Southend High Street and was knocked unconscious. He was left with a broken jaw as well as soreness to his ribs and neck.

"I really need to speak to anyone who may have witnessed what happened, as this really is a nasty assault.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact Pc Barber, or his colleagues at Southend CID , on 101. Alternatively, call independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

I agree with you and l like your username. l too get disgusted at some of the things l hear and see, or read.

Stories like this one, or young, chavvy mums in Southend High St, screaming abuse at their tiny children, or hitting them, or using the " f" word.

My elderly mother used to treat her dog with more respect than the way these people treat their children, who may well grow up to be the next generation of hooligans and it is something l never see on the continent, totally disgusting!
