4:45pm

Alaile is off! The defender goes in late and picks up his second booking. The task gets harder for Gulls!

4:45pm

Maidstone have their second wind after that goal. Seems only one team will win this now. Sands will be wishing his shot found the net now.

4:44pm

Canvey need to show their mettle now. A point would still be a good result.

Collin scores for Maidstone with minutes to go!

4:42pm

4:42pm

Penalty to Maidstone!

4:41pm

Great ball by Webb finds Sands and he flicks the ball towards goal. It hits the upright and rolls to safety!

Both sides have set the standard for others to follow today. the home side have been excellent going forward and Canvey have been superb at the back.

Mix up in the Stones defence and Gulls have a corner. It is over hit and the danger passes.

4:28pm

Heroic defending for Gulls! Brown blasts the ball at goal from 10 yards but the Canvey defenders block the ball behind. Tremendous work.

4:27pm

Humphrey and Dumas do brilliantly to deny Attwood. Corner for the home side.

4:25pm

A frenetic second half at the Gallagher Stadium. This is what non-league football is all about!

4:25pm

Unbelievable chance for Canvey! Webb, Sands and Curran are all in! Sands beats the last man and squares for Curran who can't get his shot away. The ball breaks to Webb and he fires wide with the goal gaping!

4:23pm

Sands fires the ball in from 30 yards but that shot wasn't bothering anyone.

4:22pm

The ball falls to Phillips on the edge of the box but he slices his shot wildly over when perfectly placed! The home side are peppering the away side's goal with efforts.

Maidstone will be on level terms before long if they keep this onslaught up. Canvey defending like troopers.

Late tackle by Alaile catches Flisher and the home side have a freekick in a dangerous position.

4:19pm

Collin swings a ball in from wide left but Flisher nods wide from six yards.

4:17pm

Flisher has just thrown the ball onto the penalty spot from the sideline. The home side need to utilise that long throw in this wind.

4:15pm

Maidstone have responded well to falling behind and look dangerous on the attack.

4:14pm

Mills with a low drive towards the near post but it's inches wide! Great effort by the Stones full-back.

4:14pm

No-One in the ground can say Canvey don't deserve the lead. Fans around me have been very complimentary of the visiting side's performance.

4:11pm

Jay Curran with a fantastic header from the corner. A brilliant corner finds the head of the forward and his header is a bullet into the centre of the goal.

4:10pm

Canvey goal!

4:10pm

Gulls fans making some noise early in the second period. Sellears to swing in a corner after a good run by Webb.

4:08pm

I have just been down on the 3G pitch and I am very impressed. Surely the only way forward for non-league football.

Stones kick off!

4:07pm

Maidstone 0-0 Canvey Island

3:48pm

What a chance for Webb! Sands through ball finds Chatting and his cross finds the small front man. He shoot and the keeper makes a great save, knocking the ball behind to safety.

3:47pm

Rooney looks to whip in a late cross for Collin but the ball is cleared by Bartley. Canvey's player of the half I would say.

3:45pm

Sands drills it into the wall and the ball is cleared.

3:45pm

Parkinson with a cynical foul on Curran and Canvey have a free kick on the edge of the box with the last kick of the half.

3:44pm

Chatting is in! He picks up a loose ball but as he looks to shoot a fantastic last ditch block denies the winger.

Sands is doing an admirable job up against Sobers. He is a head shorter than him but is putting his head into every challenge. In fact all the Canvey lads have been excellent first half.

3:40pm

Sellears sells Jones short and Maidstone break with Rooney. His low shot flies wide of the far post.

3:39pm

Sellears sells Jones short and Maidstone break with Rooney. His low shot flies wide of the far post.

3:37pm

Danny Heale has set his team up very well here. Well drilled and not allowing Stones' flair players any space.

3:35pm

Looks like a knee problem but he is battling on as the game is played on around him. The centre back is trying to run off the injury but a sub is being prepared.

3:34pm

Fantastic chance for Maidstone! Ball is lashed across the box by Flisher and two sliding players just miss an easy tap in! Parkinson injured himself in trying to keep the ball in and looks in a bad way here.

3:31pm

Home fans getting a bit restless. Maidstone have had a few chances but haven't looked like a team that is 12 places above the opposition.

3:30pm

Humphrey misjudged the ball and heads behind for a corner. The ball is swept in and falls to Phillips. His low shot from 20 yards is driven in and is well tipped aside! Resulting corner comes to nothing.

3:28pm

Webb, who impressed at East Thurrock, looks for Sands but he is offside and Stones have a freekick in line with the edge of their penalty box.

3:26pm

Game has hit a lull. Both sides seem content to keep possession midway through the first half.

3:25pm

Home staff have been very accommodating today. What fantastic facilities at the Gallagher Stadium.

3:23pm

Stones playing some very nice triangles here. Canvey chasing shadows at times! Can't really separate the sides though!

3:22pm

Chance for Stones! Great slide ball by Rooney finds the overlapping run of Cox. His square ball is met by Collin and the shot is saved well!

3:21pm

The ball really picks up speed on this 3G surface. Players need to be a bit more measured.

3:20pm

Rooney is looking very good in the middle of the park. The former Gillingham and Swindon man is looking impressive.

3:18pm

Really good spell for Canvey. Sands heads wide after a deep cross and Chatting and Curran posing a constant threat from out wide.

3:17pm

Chance! First chance for Canvey falls to Sands! A great driving run by Jones sees the ball slid through to the forward but his low shot lacks power and is saved by Worgan.

3:16pm

Players are coping very well with the high winds. Trying to keep the ball on the floor with Maidstone aLways looking for the through ball.

3:15pm

Looks like Sands is up top by himself today and he is working like an ox early doors.

3:14pm

Chatting with a terrific touch past Cox but he races back and slides the ball to safety.

3:13pm

Sands makes a good run in behind Mills and wins. Throw in deep in Stones territory. Ball is cleared .

3:12pm

Not sure about Canvey's all green away kit. Home side is traditional yellow and black.

3:11pm

Sun is blazing down and the game has started off at a very decent tempo. Canvey pressing well.

3:10pm

Almost a goal for Attwood after a terrific burst down the left by Flisher. Great block by Dumas.

3:08pm

Jerrome Sobers is a man mountain at the back for Stones. Sands will need to be on top of his game today.

3:07pm

Canvey really struggling to get out of their half early doors. Maidstone bossing it in the middle of the park.

3:06pm

Rooney is making his debut for Stones today and has already showed some classes touches.
