THE MP for South Basildon and East Thurrock has welcomed the news that the Deanes School has been saved.

Stephen Metcalfe has expressed his delight that the adjudicator David Lennard Jones has overturned Essex County Councils decision to discontinue the Deanes School and has backed the school and its Governing body.

Stephen said: “This is great news for the school, for the staff, for the parents, but above all for the students. I want to congratulate all those who fought to save this good school from closure and I want to thank the adjudicator for his wise examination of the evidence.

“I hope now, parents can have confidence that the school is not going to close and will start to choose it again as one of their options.”

He added: “I wish everyone at the Deanes School all the very best for the future and hope it will continue to provide a good education and will flourish for years to come.”
