POLICE are calling for information about the driver of a car that failed to stop following a collision with a pedestrian in Westcliff on Saturday.

The incident occurred at 7.10pm on Saturday, March 8 on Hamlet Court Road as a man was helping a blue Ford Focus to park, close to the junction with St Johns Road.

The man was in a collision with a red car, travelling north towards the junction with the A13, London Road.

Sergrant Dave Andre said: "The force of the collision was enough to knock the nearside wing mirror housing off the car but it failed to stop.

"The pedestrian, a 58-year-old man from the Reading area, suffered lower leg injuries and a suspected broken toe.

"He was treated at Southend General Hospital but did not need to be kept in.

"If anyone saw this incident and can provide me with further details or has any other information of relevance they can contact me at Southend Police Station on 101.”
