A SOUTHEND traffic warden who helps keep her colleagues safe has been recognised for her work with a national award.

Jade Glover, 27, leads the fight against people who attack or abuse Southend's traffic wardens after being appointed a hate crime ambassador last year.

As part of her role she has worked closely with Essex Police to raise awareness and help bring about the successful prosecution of three individuals involved in racially-related incidents.

She also recently oversaw the introduction of DNA swab kits for her colleagues in a bid to curb assaults on them.

Miss Glover picked up the award from comedian Shappi Khorsandi at the industry awards at the Lancaster Hotel in central London.

Neil Hunwicks, manager for contractor Apcoa in Southend, said: “I am delighted that Jade has been recognised for her work in Southend.

“Her contribution to the Southend enforcement services’ contract - as well as the broader responsibility for helping to bring perpetrators of hate crime to justice - is nothing short of outstanding.

“Since introducing the hate crime initiative last year, Jade has excelled in every aspect of the role; which is in addition to her day-job as a civil enforcement supervisor.

“It demonstrates that, with the right mind-set, strategy, and team spirit, you can achieve almost anything, and help to change people’s perceptions at the same time.”

He added: “Jade is an inspiration to her colleagues, and a much-valued member of the team. She is an integral part of the Southend- contract, which always strives for excellence in all that it does.

“The Front Line award is a fitting tribute to Jade, as she has always seized the initiative and led from the front.”

But he stopped on a crossing and let his passenger out, that is not stopping for people on the crossing, they already have the right of way.

'At'...stopped at a crossing and not 'on', just like you are required to do, give way to pedestrians..!! exactly what he did looking at the photo evidence, if someone chooses to alight whilst the vehicle is stationary there is no law says they can't is there..? If the higher authority 'The Police' say he was ok no traffic law broken then that also should be good enough for the parking crew.

They are traffic wardens. 'Civil enforcement officers ' is political correctness crap. I trust that you are aware you are hurting their feelings by calling them 'evil jobsworths'. Without them, people would carry on like a stale bottle of p*** with parking bays hogged by selfish morons all day.
