Woman arrested over Leigh stabbing released without charge

THE WOMAN arrested in connection with stabbing a man in the chest in Leigh on Monday night has been released from police custody without charge.

The 30-year-old was arrested in Oakleigh Park Drive soon after the incident which took place on The Broadway around 9.25pm.

A man in his thirties was found injured and police spent much of Tuesday searching for evidence in the alley behind several shops on The Broadway and a section of Oakleigh Park Drive.

A cordon was put in place behind the shops and part of Oakleigh Park Drive while it was taking place.

A police spokesman said: “The assault is still being investigated by detectives.”

The man’s injuries were not life threatening.
