A TEENAGER was left needing surgery after being shot in the arm with an air gun.

The 13-year-old suffered the injury at Lions Gorge in Chafford Hundred at around 6.15pm yesterday.

Two 24-year-old men, one from Stanford-le-Hope and one who did not give an address, were arrested on suspicion of assault following the incident.

The youngster, who lives in the area, ended up with a pellet in his arm and will require surgery.

Dc Adam Stallard, of Grays CID, said: "The area is a popular fishing spot and young people do like to hang around there. We would like to speak to anyone who may have seen what happened or who has any further information.”

Anyone that can help is asked to call Grays CID on Essex Police 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
