Volunteers in litter pick to clean up town

First published in Local News

BAGS of rubbish were collected by volunteer litter pickers.

Basildon Council workers and staff at McDonald’s descended on Basildon to do their bit for the community. They held an action day, with many litter picks held around the fast-food restaurant before culminating at Festival Leisure Park.

Dozens of bags of rubbish were piled into a heap at the end of the day before being sent off to the tip or to be recycled.

Staff also helped out when they spotted any items which had been dumped, with two chairs, which had been flytipped, also collected and sent to the dump.

What a ridiculous comment.

As if somebody is going to give up hours of their weekend just for a big Mac. Get real. It's all about free food with you lot isn't it? It's an obsession. I keep telling you, if you actually BOTHER to do FoIs on a range of politicians and officers you will see where the money is REALLY wasted, instead of listening to gossip and conjecture.

I've put in an FoI on one of the wastes of space Labour councillors recently to see if he really is in a position to be slagging off everyone else.. I like to get my FACTS right instead of listening to the idiots on here rumour mongering and dredging up photoshopped rubbish from loony left sites like HNH and UAF.

I'd like to add, since this has been omitted from this story, that the Mayor was one of those picking up rubbish. She stayed for several hours doing this.

The deputy mayor however, turned up for photos but was not actually seen litter picking.

You can moan and **** as much as you like about my comment. And about my friendships with politicians - or even my political leanings. I really don't give a stuff.

I'm just getting it over to some of you dill-brains that not all those in public office are what you think they are. However, if you want to believe everything you read in the newspapers online you carry on believing it.

I deal in reality, not rumour.

And for the record, just for once, no I was not there but I know others who were. And the only reason I wasn't was because of family commitments.

The day I see you naysayers get off your @rse and do something useful for the community will be the day I become Queen of England.

Maybe you should take some of your own advice Kim and spend more time working for the community where you live in Rayleigh than worrying about what is going in a completely diffferent town. I can only guess why you spend so much time obsessing over the machinations of Basildon Council and your fairly recent and surprising switch of allegience to the Mayor who you previously and publicly lambasted regarding the award of her OBE.

I think KIM GANDY should have been picked up with all the rubbish that is spouted. This is a cheap way of getting rubbish off the streets.

I suspect that Howard Chase' comment was a joke.

You have as always managed to turn something humourous into one of your political rants.
