A MAN was left with a four-inch gash in his head after a beer glass was smashed onto him.

Detectives investigating the assault in Southend are appealing for independent witnesses.

The 33 year old victim from Southend received a four inch cut to the back of his head at around 7pm on the Eastern Esplanade near to the Halfway House pub on June 12.

The suspect is described as a young white man, about 5ft 10 ins tall, medium build and aged 16-20 years old with short dark hair. He was not wearing a top and had white knee-length shorts.
