I really hope this place isn't struggling.

O'Picado is by far the best restaurant in Westcliff, an absolute hidden gem that oozes character and authenticity.

I know for a fact it's popular with many other local restaurant owners!

No, it's Italian. Any other 'bright' conspiracy theories for our entertainment?

Well you're clearly not very 'bright', if you were you would know its also a common Portuguese name.

A website that's had its hosing suspended due to non payment of the bill and an apparent arson attack (For your benefit, that means the fire was started deliberately) in the early hours, could suggest the owners were in some form of financial trouble.

A motiveless attack on a defined target would seem very less likely at this stage given the info available.

Correct! My full name is Marcello Mastroianni and I was born in Fontana Liri, Lazio, Italy.

If you know Southend you will know there are lots of Italian restaurants and a big Italian community - this is how I know that O'Picado is popular with restaurateurs!

I know it's a common Portuguese name. I also happen to know in Portuguese, the name is spelt with one L - Marcelo.

Ok, but if you 'knew its a common Portuguese name' why did you clearly state : "No, it's Italian" ???

Sounds to me like you have been educated and @ the search engines? A simple 'thanks I didn't know that' would have done.

At least one of my favourite restaurants is ok, Marcello is bang on the money too, also they get their website shown on the southend food guide website so maybe they don't need to renew their hosting right now, those grapes must be ripening nicely too.

also anyone notice no mention of the fire service attending and the times of between 2am and 7 am, sounds like a small fire that never got going and burnt itself out, owners arrived in the morning and noticed it and called police.

I clearly stated that because 'Marcello' with 2 Ls is Italian. Also, I'm pretty certain the gentleman in question knows how to spell his own name correctly, so the second L is very unlikely to have been a typo.

Had he written 'Marcelo' with a single L, then you may have been right. Or then again, he might have been Spanish, South/Central American, Angolan, Mozambican or anywhere else the Spanish & Portuguese colonised.

Capisce? :)
