Aldi completion will boost regeneration

Echo: Aldi completion will boost regeneration Aldi completion will boost regeneration

A BRAND new Aldi store will be opening its doors in Pitsea this week.

The unveiling of the supermarket, in Northlands Pavement, marks the latest stage of the long awaited £30million regeneration.

The new-look Pitsea market opened earlier this year, complete with 100 stalls, while a 75,000 sq ft Morrisons superstore is on schedule to be completed by March next year.

Richard Moore, councillor responsible for regeneration and planning, said: “The Pitsea regeneration scheme is aimed at revitalising and transforming the town for the benefit of the whole community.

“The new Aldi store is an important milestone in the programme of Pitsea’s redevelopment and paves the way in giving a real boost to the town.”

The new store is due to open its doors at 8am on Thursday.

Great news for Pitsea. It's all coming together nicely.

Now they can crack on with Morrison's and finish the revamp of Pembroke House to finish the job.

It's such a pity the same can't be said for Laindon Shopping Centre.

Come on Basildon Council. Get stuck in, buy the site and get it sorted.

I understand that there have been all sorts of pitfalls associated with the Laindon Centre but give the new council a chance. I'm sure the CO-OPERATION between UKIP and the Conservatives will come up with something.

Great news indeed for Pitsea. ALDI and LIDL are two good value for money stores. The fruit is always good and fresh and their prices truly competitive. Excellent value. We need more and if some misery guts in Rayleigh hadn't put a stop to our proposed LIDL at Eastwood, we'd have been able to get to one more easily. As it is, the nearest LIDL to here is Hadleigh and the nearest ALDI is in Wickford.

I hope you're right about the UKIP whip hand forcing the Council to sort it out.

It's been an embarrassment and a travesty for far too long.

I assume from your comments that you are not aware that Aldi has been at Pitsea for a number of years and are just relocating 150yds from their old shop to a larger brand new premises.

I hope they haven't sold out of Maris Piper potatoes by the time I get in there this afternoon.

Best quality Maris Pipers of all the supermarkets and best value too.

Long live Aldi!
