Harrow Borough Council says it is considering a petition to lower car park charges but will have to examine “implications” of any changes.
Councillor Janet Mote has started a petition calling for the council to cut the charge for the first hour of parking Cambridge Road car park, in North Harrow from 80p down to 20p.
She wants the council to change the status of the Cambridge Car Park from District Centre to Local Centre, which she hopes will encourage more people to visit the area.
Cabinet member for environment Cllr Varsha Parmar said: “We are considering this petition, however to change the planning designations of retail areas from district centres to local district centres can have a number of implications which will need to be looked at in detail.”
