CHILDREN from a Hockley pre-school have got first-hand experience of recycling, thanks to a school project.

The children from Whizz Kids, Hockley, visited the recycling centre in Hockley Library car park to deposit their rubbish in the correct bin, and also see a refuse truck in action.

As part of the pre-school’s plans this term, it has been been teaching the children about recycling, making up three boxes for the disposal of plastic, paper and textiles.

The children were encouraged to bring items in from home to recycle.

Sandra Grant, manager of the pre-school, said: “We thought it would be a good idea to take them on an outing to the recycling bins to recycle some of their items.

“A big thank you to the council for arranging for a truck to be there and it even allowed the children to sit inside.

“The children learnt a lot about recycling and had great fun doing so. A great time was had by all.”
