First published in Local News

DETECTIVES are appealing for witnesses after a man was robbed of his bank card and mobile phone in Laindon.

The incident occurred in the early hours of this morning in Durham Road.

The victim, a 23-year-old from Basildon, was walking along the road when approached by two men who threatened him with a knife and demanded he handed over his phone, cash and PIN.

The men made off with the card and phone, leaving the victim shaken but not hurt.

The bank card was subsequently used to withdraw money from the victim’s account.

Suspects are described as white, between 16 and 20 years old, one wearing a dark tracksuit, dark trainers and dark baseball cap, the other a black hooded top and jeans.

Witnesses, or anyone with any information should contact Ds Mike Wilkinson on Essex Police 101, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.

He must have been bricking it if he told them his actual PIN.

Unless they frogmarched him to the cashpoint and forced him to withdraw the money while they held a knife on him why woukd he give them the real number?

A dark tracksuit? Maybe with some lights on he might at least have been able to describe whether it was blue, green, red, brown etc.

Bet there's no chance of an accurate e-fit either.

Turn some lights on please then we can see what we need to see in times of drama.

Durham Road is where Laindon Police Station is isnt it?

I suppose it's shut after about five in the afternoon though so no chance of any coppers being in the area at ethe time.
