DETECTIVES are appealing for witnesses after a man was robbed of his bank card and mobile phone in Laindon.

The incident occurred in the early hours of this morning in Durham Road.

The victim, a 23-year-old from Basildon, was walking along the road when approached by two men who threatened him with a knife and demanded he handed over his phone, cash and PIN.

The men made off with the card and phone, leaving the victim shaken but not hurt.

The bank card was subsequently used to withdraw money from the victim’s account.

Suspects are described as white, between 16 and 20 years old, one wearing a dark tracksuit, dark trainers and dark baseball cap, the other a black hooded top and jeans.
