A SCHOOL will today say goodbye to three of its longest-serving teachers.

Malcolm Perry, Angie Davie and Eiblis Howlett have taught at Appleton School, in Croft Road, Benfleet, for a combined 56 years.

Mrs Davie, who has been there 24 years, said: “I have loved working at this outstanding school.

“I will miss the staff, but most of all I will miss the fantastic pupils.”

Mrs Howlett, who has taught food technology for 13 years at the secondary school, plans to continue with supply teaching following her retirement.

She said: “I am very passionate about my subject and would like to review food as well.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at the school and have seen it go from strength to strength.”

We're off after 56 years at Appleton, err not quite, with half terms Christmas, Easter and the summer holidays (10 weeks) it's still a cushy little number, oh the stress...

Give these three guys a break being a teacher is not easy .

Without people like this there would be even more 'Sub Human' criminal uneducated thugs like those that downed the Malaysian plane.

With all the rubbish they have to contend with these days they deserve a well done, thanks and now enjoy your life.

Miss Davie, Mr Perry and Mrs Howlett in particular, have worked tirelessly for the Appleton School. I bet the school are all still thinking Mrs Howlett won't actually have gone through with retiring, I think I was told she was going to retire 10 years ago!

I think all three of them taught my two at some point, and they were all genuinely good and inspirational teachers. Happy Retirement!
