NEW road surfaces have been inspected in Benfleet.

Essex county councillor Ray Howard, who took over as deputy cabinet member for highways and transportation, was at Benfleet train station to see how repairs are going to potholes in the road.

The county council is pumping millions of pounds into filling them in across the county and has laid a new surface on the road.

Mr Howard said he was pleased the repair work was going well and his area had been one of the first to have been targeted.
