A MAN was robbed as he walked along the seafront in the early hours of the morning.

A 23-year-old man from Grays was walking along Marine Parade looking for his friend after a night out when he was attacked.

As he made his way past Adventure Island when he was pulled to the floor by an unknown man who searched him and stole a number of items including his watch, mobile phone and around £30 in cash.

Police are appealing for witnesses, particularly a dog walker who is believed to have been around at the time of the incident, at 4.20am on Tuesday, August 19.

Investigating officer PC Tom Caton said: "From our enquiries we understand there may have been a man walking a dog near to the scene of the robbery. He may be a possible witness so I would appeal to him or anyone else who may have seen anything to come forward and speak to me.”

The victim suffered minor injuries and was left feeling very shaken. He did not require hospital treatment.
