A RADIO presenter has raised more than £5,000 for a hospice by taking on challenges and putting on events all year.

Su Harrison raised the money. alongside her partner Sinclair Walton for Fair Havens and Little Havens Children’s Hospice.

Among the highlights for the Heart Essex presenter was pounding the capital’s pavements in April by taking part in the London Marathon.

The couple also held a Christmas party and market, while Sinclair asked for donations instead of gifts at his 50th birthday party.

Su said: “I was challenged on air by Martin Day to run the London Marathon as he never thought I would be able to complete it.

“Not only was Havens Hospices able to offer me a place on Team Havens, the charity organised group training runs, physio sessions and support throughout the whole journey.

“The training and the actual race was very tough, but the atmosphere was amazing and we loved meeting Team Havens runners along the route.

“We’re delighted the generosity of not only those close to us, but listeners too, has helped raise more than £5,000 for Havens Hospices, which relies almost entirely on donations.”

Havens Hospices cares for life-limited adults, babies, children, teenagers and their families. It offers care within the two hospices or in a person’s own home completely free of charge.

The London Marathon ballot for Havens Hospices opens in October at havens hospices.org.uk.
