A TRUCKER escaped with just cuts and bruises when his lorry flipped on its side and slid down a carriageway.

No other vehicles were involved in the incident, which happened on the London-bound carriageway of the A130 close to Sadlers Farm.

Ambulance crews were called just before 10am and sent a rapid response car, an ambulance and paramedic officer to treat the man in his 50s.

Paramedic Officer Jane Morris said: "The man was very lucky to escape with cuts and bruises to his leg after the lorry has slid down the road for quite some distance. Following a thorough assessment, he was taken to the Basildon & Thurrock Hospital for further treatment."
