A BENFLEET community transport service paid tribute to a retiring worker who helped pull in than £100,000 in her seven years at the firm.

Assistant manager Mary Rikard, 63, of Broadlands Road, Hockley, leaves Wyvern Community Transport with fond memories and safe in the knowledge the company has grown considerably since her arrival.

In her time at Wyvern, its fleet has grown from two buses to seven, and her successful funding applications to both local and county councils and other sources have given the company solid foundations to build upon.

Reflecting on her work, Mary said: “I have had a wonderful time here and being part of an organisation and service that has developed so much has been a lovely experience.”

Prior to joining Wyvern, Mary worked in training at E.ON for 13 years.

Andy Woodley, manager of the firm, added: “She’s been really valued by us all, a great friend to all of our staff and an excellent all-round team member. We will all miss her.

It’s been a tough day saying goodbye to her.”

Mary plans to spend her time relaxing with family and friends, and says her two grandchildren will keep her extremely busy in retirement.
