POLICE are no longer looking for a man in relation to an assault on a woman in Southend.

The county's police force appealed for information about Mottez Hamdi, 28, last week as he was wanted in connection with an incident on Saturday, June 13, where he had an argument with a woman and then smashed a bottle over her arm.

He also made serious threats to a woman via social media.

Hamdi was last known to be living in Newington Avenue, Southend, but also frequented the Chatham area of Kent.

Earlier today a 28-year-old man, believed to be Hamdi, was arrested on suspicion of assault in Chatham and is currently being questioned at Rayleigh Police station.

Police are still looking to trace three other men wanted on suspicion of offences in South Essex.

The first is a man called Shaun Cumings who is wanted for breaching a non-molestation order issued at Southend Family Court.

The 32-year-old is also wanted for various offences including common assault, criminal damage, threats to kill and harassment.

His last known address was in Bridge Hill Epping but he is known to frequent the Basildon area. He is described as white, 5ft 7ins tall and is of a stocky build. He works in the building trade.

He may also spell his name as Shaun Cummings.

Barry Ball, 51, whose last known address is in Basildon, is wanted for breaching a court order imposed by Basildon magistrates on April 1.

Krzyztof Guzdek, 33, whose last known address is in Southend, is wanted on suspicion of assaulting a woman at Basildon on March 18. She was pushed to the ground while holding a young child who suffered a head injury. The woman also suffered face injuries.
