A MAN has been rushed to hospital with serious injuries after a car he was working on fell on top of him.
The man, in his 70s, became trapped after the car he was working on slipped its jack and fell on him in Downham Road, Wickford just before 11am today.
Firefighters rescued the man within 30 minutes and left him in the care of the ambulance service.
Essex Air Ambulance was called to the scene to treat the man who was trapped from the chest down.
He has been taken to Basildon Hospital by land ambulance with serious injuries to his chest, pelvis and abdomen.
The air ambulance crew travelled to hospital with him.
