A PEDESTRIAN has been taken to hospital with serious head injuries after he was involved in a collision with a car in Basildon.
Ambulance crews were called to the junction of Great Knightleys and Ballards Walk, near the Plough and Tractor pub, just after 6.20am today.
They treated a man in his twenties, who was conscious and breathing, but had suffered a serious head injury.
He has been taken to Basildon Hospital for further treatment.
The road remains closed.
An Essex Police spokesman said: "Police were called at 6.30am today to a report of a road collision in Ballards Walk.
"A pedestrian and a blue Ford C Max were in collision.
"Officers and the ambulance service attended and the pedestrian was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
"Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to contact police in Basildon on 101."
