A TEENAGER suffered burns to his eyes and mouth after a gang of youths threw cleaning fluid over him.

The 16-year-old, who does not want to be identified for fear of a reprisal, was walking in Lake Meadows, Billericay, when he was attacked.

A gang of 12 boys shouted at the teenager, who was with a friend walking his dog, before knocking him to the ground and kicking him in the head.

They then threw the corrosive substance, believed to have contained bleach, over his face.

The schoolboy has been left with red eyes and a sore mouth.

His 19-year-old sister, of Queen’s Park, Billericay, said he is terrified to leave the house.

She said: “They were just walking over the park through Lake Meadows with the dog when they were approached by a gang of 12 boys.

“Something happened where they thought my brother’s friend was filming them.

“They looked through the phone and found there were no videos.

“They then just started hitting my brother’s friend in the face. They kicked my brother in the back of the legs so he fell down and proceeded to kick him in the head.

“He must have blacked out because he couldn’t remember hitting the floor.”

Once he was on the ground, the fluid was sprayed over him.

His sister added: “It must have had bleach in it. It’s scary that they were carrying this around.”

No arrests have been made and police are still investigating the attack, which took place at about 7pm on Friday.

A spokesman for the force said: “Police are investigating after two teenage boys were assaulted in Lake Meadows, Billericay, on Friday evening.

“It happened at around 7pm as the boys were walking a dog in the park.

“They were approached by a group of eight to 12 youths who verbally abused them and then knocked one of the boys to the ground.
