AN armed gang of nine men broke into a Basildon home, injuring two men, before fleeing empty handed.
The group broke into a home in Brackendale Avenue, in Basildon, at around 10.30pm on Tuesday, January 10.
Armed with hammers and knives, the gang injured a man in his 20s and a man in his 70s, but took nothing in an aggravated burglary.
It is believed the men were driving a dark BMW 1 Series or BMW Compact which was also accompanied by dark coloured Vauxhall Astra or Ford Focus.
Officers are looking to trace those vehicles and for anyone who saw them in the area around the A13 or Tesco in Pitsea to come forward.
The group are described as black or dark skinned, in their late teens or early 20s, wearing jogging bottoms and puffer jackets with scarves covering their faces.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Dc Gail Wilkinson at Basildon Police Station on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
