A PAEDOPHILE who downloaded child abuse images despite being under a community order for a similar offence was spared jail for the second time.

Computer game-obsessed Tyler Chamberlin, 27, of Newberry Side, Basildon, admitted two counts of making indecent images of children and one of possession of extreme pornography in 2010.

While subject to a 36-month community order, the former Pizza Hut worker started downloading more images in October 2013 - some of them involving very young children being subjected to horrendous sexual abuse.

Basildon Crown Court heard he downloaded 73 of the most vile category A images, 127 category B and 330 category C images onto a computer and iPhone.

Officers found the images after concerns were raised about his online interactions.

Philip Allman, prosecuting, said Chamberlin told police the images were sent to his phone by a friend - who he did not report because “he didn’t have the telephone number.” He later admitted the offences.

Mr Allman said: “There would have been considerable pain to the children depicted.”

Lawrence Henderson, mitigating, said Chamberlin was “immature” and an “isolationist” but was taking steps to improve.

Judge Ian Pugh handed Chamberlin a community sentence, after the Probation Service ruled he could take part in an internet sex offender’s course.

He said: “It is absolutely clear from the description of these photographs that many of them involved very, very young children and that they must have suffered distress.”

Chamberlin must complete 180 hours of unpaid work and sign the sex offender’s register indefinitely.
