PUPILS celebrated a week of literature during their annual summer book week by putting on a Shakespeare performance.

West Leigh Junior School, in Ronald Hill Grove, Leigh, kicked the week off with a book browsing day on Monday with the Travelling Book Company.

On Tuesday, the Year 6 pupils enjoyed Macbeth Day and all four classes worked fantastically well to ensure that the final performance at the end of the day was spectacular.

The workshop was run by Splats Entertainment, a company that visits schools and teaches children to put on performances. The Splats team inspired confidence in the children and helped them put on the Shakespeare production all in a day. They were thrilled to see such great reactions from the children and the staff were all extremely proud of how well they did.

The Shakespeare days enable all children to demonstrate their talent and complemented the work they have been doing in class on their Shakespeare plays which helped to give them the interest and confidence needed to perform.

The Book Fair was buzzing all week and the staff at the school were again overwhelmed by the generosity of all those who bought two books in order to donate their third, free book to the library.

The staff passed on their thanks to everyone who took part and helped make it a successful book week.
