A TEENAGER who was stabbed in the arm told a court how his it “felt warm” as he struggled to get away from his alleged attackers.

Southend Crown Court heard Leighton Cooper, 19, was attacked while visiting his cousin Sam Longhurst at his flat in Shoebury High Street on August 6.

Mr Cooper suffered a torn tendon in his left arm and was also battered around the head with a blunt object, leaving him needing stitches.

John Dawson, 30, and Lee Scowen, 35, both of Leigh Road, Leigh, deny causing grievous bodily harm with intent. John Dawson’s brother Robert, 32, of Friars Street, Shoebury, admits the charge and is not on trial.

Prosecutors allege the three men turned up at the flat while Mr Longhurst was out. Mr Cooper answered the door and was then attacked.

He described how the Dawson brothers wielded a baseball bat and a metal pole while Scowen was armed with a knife. The court heard an assault took place in a room but Mr Cooper managed to barge past Scowen and into a communal hallway.

He said: “My arm felt really wet. I looked at it and it was pouring with blood.”

Robin Griffiths, prosecuting, asked: “Where were you when you first realised that your arm had been cut, that it had been stabbed?”

Mr Cooper replied: “Halfway down the stairs. I just wanted to get out.”

The court also heard from a neighbour, Jessica Warner, who described four men shouting outside the flat at about 6pm.

She said: “I was getting ready to go out and I heard lots of shouting outside the window. I saw four men standing next to a red convertible car.

“They were looking for someone called Liam who lived in the flats next door. They were saying that they were going to come up and kill them.”

Miss Warner said the shouting was “really aggressive”. She said: “The one that was most aggressive was about 5ft 9in, bald and he had bright blue eyes. He had no shirt. He was shouting: ‘Is Liam there, he owes me money?’

“I put my head out the window and said I will phone the police. He told me that he would get 40 men to come and get me.” The trial continues.
