MORE people convicted of drink-driving during a summer crackdown have been named and shamed by Essex Police.

Officers arrested 107 people during the campaign, which ran between Thursday, June 1 and Friday, June 30.

They vowed that anyone who is convicted of a drink or drug driving offence, having been arrested during that period, will have their name and photo published.

Adam Pipe, casualty reduction manager at Essex Police, said: “Drink driving can ruin lives and destroy families.

“Anyone who does it risks their safety and that of other people.

“The summer campaign may have finished at the end of June but our work to catch drink and drug drivers and bring them to justice continues.”

Yesterday the police released details of five more people who have since been convicted following their arrest.

Jack Foster, 20, of Woodfield Road, Leigh, was arrested in Southend, at 4.45am on Friday, June 23.

Following a court appearance, he was disqualified for driving for 20 months.

Magistrates also fined him £200 and ordered to pay £85 costs and £30 victim surcharge for drink driving.

Paul Crook, 33, of Alfred Street, in Gloucester, was stopped by police at Rayleigh Weir, off the A127, at 4.30pm on Monday, June 19.

Magistrates disqualified him from driving for 28 months and ordered him to pay £85 court costs.

He was further ordered to pay an £85 victim surcharge and told to carry out 120 hours of unpaid work for drink-driving.

Other drivers convicted following the crackdown include Salman Barli, 37, of Gloucester Road, West London, who was disqualified from driving for 14 months after he was arrested in Maldon on Friday, June 16.
