A HOUSE used for families who have children with life-threatening conditions to enjoy the seaside could be ruined by a proposed development.

Jane Allen’s daughter, Indee Rose Dopson, three, bravely fought an aggressive brain tumour for five months, but sadly died in June 2009.

Jane, along with Indee’s father Russell Dopson, of Gayland Road, Canvey, set up the Indee Rose Trust, to raise money to find a cure and also to provide treasure boxes filled with presents for children

The family bought a beach house, in Kent, when Indee Rose was just a baby.

They now let the house out through the trust to other families who are going through the same trauma.

However, Jane was horrified when she received a letter from Shepway Council advising her they were looking into building 30 houses on the Coast Drive car park right in front of the house. She said: “They put an application in in October 2016 and it was rejected.

“It must have been lying on file or something because I have just heard they are looking into it again. They are looking to build 30 houses. That would totally ruin the view.

“You go through the back gate, walk through a car park and you are on the beach. It is a ten second walk to the beach.”

She added that the house was almost constantly in use by families and proved popular with everyone who used it as a way to make lasting memories with their children.

Jane added: “Each child is either receiving treatment or is in remission from brain and spinal cancer.

“It’s a beautiful home for all the family to enjoy with unspoilt views of the Kent coast.

“The families who continually use the house are offered peace and quiet and it’s a time to spend some quality time together to create happier memories.

“Believe it or not some of the children have never even seen a beach due to the fact they are constantly in hospital so it’s lovely to see them happily enjoying the beach and being allowed just to be children.

“The house always welcomes bereaved parents along with the siblings and is a place to reflect and rest. It is a place that is unspoilt and wonderful.

“It’s not fair that a council has the right to decide without considering the residents and lifestyles.” Send letters of opposition to jane@indeerosetrust.org
