THE funeral has been held for a member of a well-known family.

David Quelch, 72, had lived in the town and the surrounding area for most of his life, along with his five brothers.

The family ran Quelch Forgery, in Lower Dunton Road, Laindon, since it was started by Vic Quelch in 1968.

The funeral for David Quelch took place yesterday, with a horse drawn carriage leading the procession of about 12 cars.

He leaves behind two brothers.

The procession started from Farrer Funeral Directors, in Billericay’s High Street, and made its way to Great Burstead Church.

A celebration of his life took place at the church, which was packed with friends and family members.

John Farrer, of Farrer Funeral Directors who looked after the funeral, said: “The family wanted the procession to start from Billericay as he had liked the town.

“The family were all very happy with how it went and the service at the church.

“There was quite a good turn out with about 150 people at the church and 12 cars joining the procession. They were very well known family in the area.”
